As the structure of connectors has become increasingly diverse, new structures and applications have emerged, and attempts to solve classification and naming problems with a fixed pattern are not suitable. The interconnection can be divided into five levels according to the functions of the internal and external connections of the electronic device.

The division of the connector product type above is somewhat confusing. From a technical point of view, there are only two basic ways to divide the connector product category:
1 according to the operating frequency: low frequency and high frequency (divided into low frequency and high frequency by 3MHz, which is basically consistent with the frequency division of radio waves.).
2 according to the shape structure: round and rectangular (the shape of the connector cross section). For example, the coaxial connector is circular, and the printed circuit connector is rectangular (historically, the printed circuit connector is separated from the rectangular connector), and the popular rectangular connector has a cross section of Trapezoidal, approximate to a rectangle.
It can be seen that circular connectors are the most common and common type among connectors.
Circular connectors, in a broad sense, include low frequency circular connectors, RF coaxial connectors, and audio connectors. Its cylindrical structure is naturally strong and has higher strength than any other shape. The plugs and sockets of the circular connector are mostly screwed, and the terminals can be from two to hundreds, and have the characteristics of small size and high reliability, which can meet the needs of cable connection between electronic devices.
